ترقق العظام, والذي يسمى أيضا هشاشة العظام، هو داء يصيب العظم ويؤدي إلى إضعافه وجعله هشا وأكثر عرضة للكسر. وهو مرض يصيب الرجال والنساء ويؤدي إلى إصابة الشخص بكسور في الرسغ والورك وفقرات العمود الفقري وأماكن أخرى. وهو مرض غير معد، أي إنه لا ينتقل من شخص إلى آخر بالعدوى، ولكن تلعب عوامل معينة دورا في الإصابة به.
